Fall-ing in Love with Jeans

One of our favorite things about the fall season is the many ways to style jeans. Skirts, pants, shorts, even denim dresses are an item of choice, and within those categories are the many different styles of each. Our “go-to” jean of choice for the next few weeks is the tomgirl jean, high-waisted and distressed. You can style this look with just about anything — from heels to flats or sneakers and from t-shirts to sweaters.

When shopping for jeans, we suggest prioritizing fit, then style. Since brands each have contrasting size guides and a wide array of cuts for various body shapes, it can be tough to find the perfect denim. But once you find that flattering fit, your world is forever changed. After sizing is determined, and brand and style have come into play, you can then get creative with outfit decisions…the fun stuff!

For ladies on a budget, an affordable brand of choice is American Eagle or Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, high-waisted or tomgirl style. These labels offer three different lengths, so whether you’re on the shorter or taller side the hem hits you at the correct spot. Nordstrom is another suggested destination if you’re in the mood to treat yourself to a pair with a higher price point. AG and Good American, in particular, offer a good fit for every body type and broad selection from which to choose.

Let’s dive in to style ideas…

Black Flare

We’ve chosen a pair of black cropped flare jeans from H&M. As we transition from warmer weather, pair the denim with slip-on sneakers or platform sandals and a t-shirt for a casual look. In the fall and winter, add a comfy sweater and cute neutral booties. For a more polished presentation, choose jeans with small rips by the pockets that can be covered with a longer blouse, or a raw cut hem to add an edgy touch.

Skinny Jeans

One of our last favorite looks is a classic: medium wash skinny jeans from AE. They’re high waisted (if you can’t tell, we high waisted is always in style) and they have a sleek coloring, nothing too fancy or light. You can’t go wrong with this look as it is highly versatile and easy to dress up or down. Whether you’re a college student or mom on-the-go, we recommend having a simple pair of jeans like these for on-the-go mornings.

Black High-Waisted

Our second look includes black high-waisted jeans from H&M. We know it can be a struggle to sift through H&M’s disorganized racks, but some of their items are steals! For example, last year our co-founder Jordan found a pair for only $19. Black jeans are a day-to-day staple piece, but spruce them up with accents — embroidery, studs, or decals down the side of the leg. In the fall, go for block heels and a simple cropped sweater, or just throw on a pair of sneakers and roll. In the winter, we love pairing denim with a sweater and Doc Martens for a balance of fashionable and functional.
